In October 2022, negotiations to establish an agreement on the protection of geographical indications between Mongolia and the European Union were started, and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mongolia is working as part of the working group. The purpose of the agreement is to exchange the list of geographical indications registered with the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia of the parties, and to protect the rights of geographical indications in the territories of Mongolia and the European Union. By registering geographical indications, it is important to preserve the quality of products with unique natural climate and cultural heritage from Mongolia, to increase competitiveness in the market by creating brand products known among consumers, and to stop the production of counterfeit and imitation products. We are accepting proposals for products that can be registered by geographical indication.
